Artist Profile

Elaine Heseltine Carp

Elaine trained at the West Surrey College of Art & Design, as well as the London Atelier of Representational Art (LARA). Originally working as an illustrator, under the pseudonym Alex Laine, she has painted book jackets and illustrated for many big companies including Penguin, Hodder & Stoughton and Time Magazine. She now focuses her attention on private commissions including landscapes and portraits.

Elaine was featured on Landscape Artist of the Year and competed in Portrait Artist of the Year on Sky Arts. She also took part in Portraits for NHS Heroes, an art project painting and donating portraits of NHS staff during the Covid-19 pandemic. Her work has been featured in major exhibitions worldwide including Chateau du Bijou in France and Mall Galleries & Bulstrode Gallery in London.

Her father was the artist John Robert Heseltine (1923-2015) and her ancestor was the artist John Postle Heseltine (1843-1929) who was trustee of the National Gallery.
